In September 2022, we were very excited to introduce our new phonics scheme. The children have loved getting to know the characters and that these same characters are helping them to read and write.

Phase 1 Phonics in Nursery
What is phonics?
Well it’s so much more than reading and writing.
In nursery we concentrate of the foundations of early phonics before a child is at the point of recognising and writing letters.
We focus on tuning into sounds, understanding rhyming, keeping a rhythm and understanding alliteration and hearing the sounds spoken in words.
